British Green Party adopts motion defining Zionism as racism

Breaking

The UK Green Party conference voted by 56% to approve a motion defining Zionism as an ideology calling for the establishment of a Jewish state “through the exclusion or domination of the non-Jewish population.” The resolution was passed at the party conference in Brighton.

The motion calls for the establishment of a single Palestinian state with “equal rights for all,” but notably does not reference Israel’s continued existence. Only 1,835 of over 200,000 party members participated in the vote.

The decision has sparked controversy, with Green Party deputy leader Mothin Ali appearing alongside Friends of Al Aqsa’s Ismail Patel at an official fringe event at the conference, signalling divisions within the party over the motion.

The resolution represents a significant escalation in the British Green Party’s stance on Israeli-Palestinian issues and is expected to trigger further debate within the party.
