Report: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is delaying the approval of the appointment of division heads in the General Security Service, which Shin Bet chief Ronan Bar decided on. The move comes after the round of appointments in the IDF that Netanyahu failed to prevent.
"This is a kidnapping": In the government, the Prime Minister demands to cancel the appointments in the IDF
After the failure of the observers, something much worse was revealed about Israel's intelligence
The Shin Bet's response to the issue: "The appointment of department heads constitutes the beginning of the organizational personnel management process. As previously published, as part of the round of appointments, 5 department heads were appointed who will take up their duties in the summer. The head of the service intends to complete the rest of the appointments in the coming days."
The response of the Prime Minister's Office: "The Prime Minister is responsible for appointing senior officials in organizations that are under his direct responsibility in the Shin Bet and the Mossad, and they will be done with discretion, responsibility and at the appropriate time."
We will remind you that already last month the issue made headlines. Ronan Bar announced that he would conduct a wide round of appointments in the organization after the month of Ramadan, and Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gabir of the Otzma Yehudit party sent a letter to the Prime Minister in which he called for an immediate halt to the round of appointments: Whoever failed to provide an intelligence warning to the political level about the Hamas attack on October 7th, will shape the future chain of command of the most important intelligence and intelligence organization in the State of Israel," he wrote.
