Israeli Culture Minister Miki Zohar has called for the revocation of citizenship for documentary filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, who created the NAZA film that alleges AI-assisted targeting resulted in civilian deaths in Gaza. Zohar characterised their actions as “treason” and accused them of betraying their homeland for international acclaim.

The controversial documentary, which won a prize at the Venice Film Festival, contains allegations that the IDF approved a Gaza strike despite expectations of approximately 500 civilian casualties. The IDF has denied these claims, rejecting the film’s core allegations.

Zohar’s statement reflects heightened political tensions within Israel over the film’s international reception and its portrayal of Israeli military operations. The demand for citizenship revocation represents an escalation in government rhetoric against critics of military conduct during the Gaza campaign.
