Flights will increase significantly: El Al's giant deal

Against the backdrop of the expected growing demand for the summer season, El Al signed an agreement to lease two Boeing 737-800 aircraft from the Lithuanian company KLASJET, to support the activities of Sun Door – the subsidiary of El Al that focuses on flights to short-haul destinations in Europe.

The agreement should increase the frequency of flights to serve Sun Dor's planned destinations for the coming summer, when the first commercial flight of one of the planes is expected to take off to Larnaca already on Friday.

The KLASJET company, which operates about 15 aircraft, specializes in leasing aircraft to international companies. The leased planes intended to operate Sun Dor destinations include 186 seats in each plane in one service class – tourist class. The flights will be manned by the KLASJET flight crews, who will be assigned an El Al steward/stewardess on each flight, so that service will also be provided in the Hebrew language.

Sun Dor recently announced that it will fly to ten destinations in the upcoming summer season: Larnaca and Paphos in Cyprus, Rhodes and Thessaloniki in Greece, Tomi and Tbilisi in Georgia, Warsaw and Krakow in Poland, Tivat in Montenegro and Chisinau in Moldova.

In addition to increasing the flights to the existing destinations, the lease of the planes will make it possible to test the operation of flight routes to additional destinations, so that the company can offer an adapted answer to the preferences and demands of the Israeli public in other nearby holiday destinations.

"In view of the high demand among the public, in recent weeks we have carried out vigorous actions that will allow us to increase the number of our flights and offer more seats," noted Sun Dor CEO Gal Gershon.

"The agreement with KLASJET will not only allow us to increase the number of flights to the existing destinations, but also carries with it a real potential for expansion to additional destinations, which will increase the supply even more and allow more Israelis to take advantage of the summer period for the airing vacations that most of them are tempted to take. Putting the planes into rapid operation is also possible thanks to For the assistance of the Airports Authority and the Ministry of Transportation, who support the increase in capacity, for the benefit of the Israeli public."

Sun Dor clarified that customers who purchased tickets and then had their flight changed, so that it was operated using a chartered plane, may change or cancel the flight through the service center within 14 days of receiving the notification of the change of plane and on the condition that the change or cancellation be made at least two business days before the flight date. No change fees (minus price differences, if any) or cancellation fees will be charged for this operation.
