Smotrich’s Otzma Yehudit party announced Thursday that party chairman Gadi Eisenkot has received an absolute majority of recommendations from Knesset members to form a government following the presidential consultation round at the President’s residence. According to the party, this represents the highest number of recommendations any candidate has received for government formation since 2015.
The party called on President Isaac Herzog to grant Eisenkot the mandate immediately to establish an emergency government. This development comes amid ongoing political negotiations regarding potential coalition configurations and reports of changing positions on participation by various political blocs.
The breakthrough in recommendations signals potential movement toward resolving Israel’s political impasse, though significant negotiations remain regarding coalition composition and government policies.
