Guy Peleg: "Yel Grimberg suffered from neglect, she never recovered"

Guy Peleg started his show on 103FM today (Monday) referring to the unfortunate death of Yael Grimberg, the victim of the group rape in Shmarat, who passed away at the age of only 49.

The ruling that sparked outrage: "Lindenstrauss saw them as people of Sodom, but did not believe that a crime had been committed"

"We usually deal with the big dramas and often skip life itself," he said at the beginning of his remarks. "It is clear to me that Yael suffered from neglect, she never recovered but remained there injured, bleeding and above all abandoned. Grimberg is a symbol of those victims we accompany and hug for a short period of time."

"I accompanied the rape trial in Shmarat, after the supreme court overturned the district court's unimaginable acquittal, changed the face of Israeli society and brought the rapists back so that their punishment could be handed down in the district court in Haifa," Peleg added. "When we talk today about a lenient punishment, it is impossible to think that the seven rapists received ridiculous sentences."

"So every now and then, and especially on this day when the coalition agreement and the huge sums that are transferred to interest groups were revealed, you ask yourself how it is that our society invests so little in the weakest link in society – in those wounded, in those victims who need rehabilitation?".
