Houthis launch deadly attack on Yemeni city as UN warns of humanitarian catastrophe

Breaking

Iran-backed Houthi rebels have killed at least 2 teenage girls in a strike on the besieged city of Taiz, Yemen, according to reports from Times of Israel. This attack follows a deadlier assault the previous day that killed 73 military recruits, marking the deadliest single incident since fighting resumed in the region.

The United Nations has warned that Taiz faces a ‘grave risk’ due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The city remains under siege as fighting continues between Houthi forces and government-aligned troops.

In response to escalating tensions in the region, the United Kingdom has announced it will conduct ‘defensive’ air patrols over Saudi Arabia, signalling international concern about the conflict’s expansion and maritime security implications in the Arabian Peninsula.
