According to reports from Financial Times and Fox News, the Israeli Air Force has conducted military exercises over Iraqi airspace, practising flight routes to Iran. The exercises come as Israel prepares contingency plans for potential strikes on Iranian targets, including civilian infrastructure and nuclear facilities.
Military experts express scepticism about the strategic value of such operations. Danny Sitrinowitz, former head of the Iran desk at Israeli military intelligence, questions the effectiveness of renewed military action against Iran, stating: “This would paralyse the economy. But for what? We won’t topple the regime from the air.”
The exercises represent Israel’s continued military posturing towards Iran, though international pressure, including reported US concerns ahead of midterm elections, may constrain immediate action.
