The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency announced today that they have eliminated a Hamas terrorist operative who was actively planning attacks against Israeli forces. Adel Jehad Muhammad Asafour, a Hamas military wing commander, had been orchestrating shooting attacks and explosive device placements targeting IDF troops operating in Gaza throughout the conflict.
According to military and security officials, Asafour held a senior position within Hamas’s armed wing and was directly responsible for devising and coordinating immediate-term terrorist operations. The strike against him was carried out yesterday, with both the IDF spokesperson and Shin Bet confirming the operation today.
The elimination of the Hamas commander represents the latest in a series of targeted operations against the Palestinian militant group’s leadership and operational command structures. Israeli forces have intensified efforts to dismantle Hamas’s military capabilities in Gaza, focusing particularly on commanders and operatives involved in planning attacks against Israeli troops.
