The Israeli Defence Force and Shin Bet security agency have eliminated Ahmad Yahya Ibrahim al-Batsh, commander of Hamas’s Nuchba unit, in a strike in northern Gaza on Sunday. The operation targeted the senior militant leader as part of ongoing military operations in the Palestinian territory. Al-Batsh was considered a key figure within Hamas’s military structure, leading one of the organisation’s commando units responsible for attacks against Israel. The strike came as part of broader Israeli military campaigns in the Gaza Strip. In a separate operation the following day, Israeli forces also killed Hamoudah Abu Dakka in southern Gaza. Abu Dakka held a senior position in Hamas’s military intelligence unit and was involved in the organisation’s intelligence gathering operations. The two killings represent significant losses for Hamas’s military command structure during the recent period of escalated tensions in the region.
