The Israeli Defence Forces’ withdrawal from southern Lebanon has stalled amid disputes over monitoring mechanisms and Lebanese military operations. The Lebanese army has avoided conducting searches of homes and terror infrastructure sites, creating deadlock in the ceasefire implementation.

Hezbollah has simultaneously altered its operational strategy, moving away from large-scale invasion plans towards smaller cells, ambushes, and explosive drones. This shift to guerrilla warfare represents a change in tactical approach following recent military operations.

Israeli officials are applying American pressure to resolve the situation whilst warning of potential escalation with Iran that could reignite the front. The standoff threatens the stability of the ceasefire agreement.
