Israeli Supreme Court annuls overseas adoption over consent concerns

Israel’s Supreme Court has invalidated an adoption of children born in Cyprus after determining that signed waivers by surrogate mothers cannot substitute for proper legal consent. Justice Barak-Aruz stated that while the human desire to parent is fundamental, it cannot come at the expense of exploiting vulnerable women. The ruling addresses concerns over surrogacy arrangements conducted outside Israel.
