A group of thieves broke into a jewellery shop at Zion Square in central Jerusalem, located just minutes away from a police station, in a brazen daylight raid. The criminals forced their way into the store but were forced to abandon their attempt when police officers arrived at the scene unexpectedly. According to accounts of the incident, the would-be robbers spotted the approaching officers, panicked and fled the premises without managing to steal anything. The timing of the police arrival appears to have been purely coincidental, as officers had been called to deal with an unrelated incident nearby when they spotted the break-in taking place. The failed heist highlights the risks criminals face even in busy central locations, despite the audacity of targeting a shop so close to a major police station. Footage of the attempted robbery has since emerged, capturing the moment the suspects fled the scene.
