Lebanese Army Vehicle Hits Hezbollah Explosives Cache, Five Soldiers Wounded

A Lebanese Army vehicle struck an explosive device in southern Lebanon on Sunday, leaving five soldiers injured in the blast. The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) confirmed the incident occurred when the vehicle detonated what it describes as a Hezbollah weapons cache, not Israeli military ordnance as some initial reports suggested.

The explosion took place in the Kafr area of southern Lebanon, outside the security zone where Israeli forces are currently operating. According to the IDF, no Israeli troops were present in the immediate vicinity at the time of the incident.

The wounded Lebanese soldiers were treated for injuries sustained in the explosion. The incident highlights the continued presence of Hezbollah weaponry scattered across southern Lebanon, particularly in areas where the Lebanese military operates independently of the security corridor controlled by Israeli forces.

The blast comes amid heightened tensions in the region following months of cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. Lebanon’s military has faced significant challenges clearing ordnance and explosive devices from populated areas as stabilisation efforts continue in the south.
