Netanyahu’s claim of Egyptian intelligence chief visit disputed by Israeli security officials

Breaking

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed yesterday that Egyptian General Intelligence Service head Abbas Kamel had visited Israel, but senior Israeli security officials have cast doubt on this account. A high-ranking security source told Ynet: “In our capacity, we would have had to know about such a visit.”

According to the report, the Egyptian aircraft in question carried two businessmen rather than the intelligence chief. The discrepancy between Netanyahu’s public statement and security establishment knowledge raises questions about the accuracy of the Prime Minister’s claims regarding high-level diplomatic contacts.

This incident reflects tensions between Netanyahu’s narrative on diplomatic efforts and the actual intelligence community’s records, occurring amid ongoing Israeli-Egyptian negotiations related to Gaza and regional security matters.
