Outrage at the Foreign Ministry: The UN rejects claims about the extent of UNRWA's involvement in terrorism

One of the targets that Israel has targeted since the October 7 massacre is the United Nations Palestinian Refugee Organization (UNRA), after evidence that members of the organization participated in the horrific events around Gaza. So far, Israel has arrested 12 of the organization's employees, but claims that thousands of its members are involved in terrorist activities against Israel.

A report submitted today (Monday) to the UN found mixed findings regarding the claims, and stated that "UNRA has problems demonstrating neutrality towards organizations in the Gaza Strip, but Israel has not yet provided evidence for claims of extensive involvement."

The report states that in March the United Nations provided Israel with the full list of employees, with the aim of confirming its claims. It is claimed that relative to similar aid organizations of the United Nations, UNRWA has an advanced infrastructure to maintain political neutrality. However, there is a fundamental problem in that the organization recruits They work mainly from among the residents of the Gaza Strip – some of whom are also recipients of the aid themselves. It was also noted that some of the organization's members publicly expressed political statements that conflict with the organization's goal of neutrality, and that contents in UNRA school materials include problematic contents.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the main points of the report and said: "The terrorist organization Hamas penetrated UNRA-Gaza in such a wide way that it is no longer possible to say where UNRA ends and where Hamas begins. With over 2,135 UNRA employees who are operatives of the terrorist organization Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and a fifth of the management of UNRA schools who are Hamas operatives, the problem in UNRA-Gaza is not a few rotten apples – it is a rotten and poisoned tree whose roots are Hamas.

"The report ignores the seriousness of the problem and offers cosmetic solutions that do not deal with the enormous scale of Hamas' infiltration of UNRWA Gaza. This does not look like a real and thorough examination. This looks like a desire to bypass the problem and not call it by its name. Israel calls on the donor countries to refrain from transferring their taxpayers' money For UNRA-Gaza, these donations will go to the terrorist organization Hamas, which is contrary to the legislation of the donor countries themselves. Israel calls on the donor countries to transfer their funds to other humanitarian organizations in Gaza. There are other solutions."
