A Palestinian attacker attempted to infiltrate Israeli territory through the Rachel’s Tomb crossing near Bethlehem during the night of Wednesday. After realising he could not pass through the checkpoint, the man began throwing stones at security forces operating at the site. Border Police (Magav) units were dispatched to the location in response. Upon their arrival, the attacker drew a knife and lunged at the officers. The soldiers responded according to arrest procedures for a suspect, but as the man continued to pose a threat, they fired at his lower body. The attacker was wounded, neutralised and arrested for further questioning by Israeli security forces. No injuries were reported among the security personnel at the crossing, which is one of several controlled transit points between the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Palestinian territories.
