Police Chief Daniel Levy has vowed to deploy law enforcement at full strength to protect the integrity of Israel’s upcoming election, according to a statement released ahead of the vote. The Central Elections Committee confirmed that 7.3 million Israelis are eligible to cast ballots across 18,000 polling stations nationwide.
Levy’s statement comes amid ongoing tensions surrounding election day security measures. Notably, the police chief did not address a controversial meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, signalling potential divisions within the security establishment over election protocols.
The police deployment represents a significant security operation aimed at ensuring smooth electoral proceedings across the country during a period marked by heightened political tensions and concerns about potential disruptions at polling sites.
