Police chief who found missing Israeli sisters in Argentina: ‘I knew they were safe’

Deputy Commissioner Walter Alejandro Cogan, the Argentine police officer who located Israeli sisters Mali and Liel Yehalomi on a bus in South America, has described the moment he tracked them down. ‘When I understood they had arrived in Argentina, I conducted a rapid investigation,’ Cogan explained in his first public comments on the case. ‘In the end, all’s well that ends well, and that’s what matters.’

The sisters, who had gone missing whilst travelling through South America, were discovered safe on a bus during what Argentinian authorities described as an intensive search operation. Cogan’s intervention proved crucial in locating the Israeli nationals and bringing the case to a successful resolution. The deputy commissioner’s swift action following confirmation of the sisters’ arrival in Argentina led to their prompt discovery.

The case had sparked concern among family members and Israeli authorities monitoring the situation from abroad.
