Police officer questioned over ‘shadow case’ investigation

Israel’s Police Internal Investigations Unit has questioned a senior police officer on suspicion of breach of trust, following revelations in the Haaretz newspaper about what has been dubbed the ‘shadow case’. The officer, who holds the rank of lieutenant colonel, was interviewed on Sunday as part of an ongoing inquiry into the matter. Upon completion of the questioning, the officer was released on condition that he remain away from police facilities and have no contact with others involved in the case for a period of ten days. The investigation remains active and is continuing.
