Police shift strategy in Alder Dayan missing person case

Israel’s police force has restructured its approach to the investigation into the disappearance of Alder Dayan, transferring the search operation to a different unit following what officials describe as exhausted investigative avenues. The Dimona police station announced it had completed its preliminary investigation phase, prompting the decision to hand over the case to the Lod police precinct (Yimcher Sharon), which will now take the lead in searching for the missing person and investigating the altercation that preceded his disappearance. The case has drawn significant attention in Israel, with authorities working to establish what happened in the hours before Dayan went missing. In a separate development, police have dismissed claims made by some observers suggesting a connection between Dayan and his father, stating they do not recognise such allegations as having merit in their investigation. The shift in personnel and jurisdiction is a common procedural step when police determine that initial investigative directions have been fully explored, allowing a fresh team to examine the case with new perspectives and resources.
