Religious Zionist politician accuses opposition of turning blind eye to protest violence

Smotrich Rotman has launched a scathing attack on demonstrators who gathered outside the offices of the Religious Zionist party in Shoham, accusing them of violence and calling out opposition leaders for their silence on the matter. Speaking on Radio 103FM, the politician levelled serious allegations against what he characterised as unruly behaviour by protesters at the scene. Rotman’s comments come amid ongoing tensions between the government coalition and opposition parties over various policy matters, with demonstrations continuing to feature prominently in Israeli political life. The Religious Zionist politician also weighed into the dispute over coalition funding, insisting that money transfers to the coalition that had been frozen by the courts would be released regardless of judicial obstacles. Rotman blamed what he called “court irresponsibility” for the delay, signalling his frustration with judicial intervention in political and financial matters affecting his coalition partners.
