Red Cross chief says earlier hostage pressure could have saved lives

International Committee of the Red Cross President Kristian Spoljaric addressed Israeli criticism of the organisation’s role during the hostage crisis, saying that increased pressure for releases earlier in the conflict could have resulted in more hostages being freed. Spoljaric noted that visiting hostages is significantly more complicated than securing their release and reiterated that Israel is legally obligated to grant ICRC visits to Palestinian prisoners held in its facilities.
