Exactly one week after catastrophic flooding on Nepal’s border with Tibet, official death toll stands at 1,130 with approximately 4,500 people missing, including hundreds of foreign nationals from 39 countries and two Israeli citizens.

Nepal’s power authority has revealed that dozens of workers from a hydroelectric power station are believed to be alive in an underground chamber-like space with survival provisions. The discovery provides fresh hope for locating missing persons in one of the region’s worst natural disasters.

Rescue teams from India and the United States are coordinating efforts to access the trapped workers and evacuate them safely.
