Russia has launched repeated attacks on bridges spanning the Dnieper River in Kyiv since Thursday, causing massive traffic congestion in the Ukrainian capital. Kyiv’s mayor described the situation as dramatic, stating that Moscow is destroying the city.

The Russian military is deploying cheap, fast cruise drones that Kyiv is struggling to intercept effectively. The Kremlin has issued warnings to diplomats and civilians to evacuate the city, with officials indicating further retaliatory strikes are planned.

President Zelensky has characterised the attacks as retaliation for Ukrainian operations, suggesting this represents an escalation in Russia’s military strategy following recent Ukrainian military actions.
