Shin Bet chief warns administrative detentions will resume if settlers and civil groups do not halt West Bank violence

Breaking

Shin Bet head David Zini warned on Monday night that if right-wing settler leaders and civil authorities do not take action against violence in Judea and Samaria, the security service will be forced to recommend resuming administrative detentions against Jewish suspects, according to Israel Hayom.

Zini stated his opposition to administrative detention orders against Jews but emphasised that deteriorating security conditions on the ground may leave no alternative. His remarks come amid ongoing tensions over unauthorised settler operations and clashes in Palestinian areas.

The warning signals a significant escalation in security service pressure on political leadership to address settler violence, with administrative detention—arrest without trial for renewable periods—representing one of the state’s most controversial security measures against its own citizens.
