Internal Security Service (Shin Bet) has deployed full protective detail for opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot, marking the first time the chairman of the Knesset opposition receives direct state security protection, according to Ynet. The decision represents a significant shift in security protocols following weeks of threats outside his residence.
Unit 730 of the Shin Bet, responsible for VIP protection, has replaced the private security company previously assigned to Eisenkot. This change comes approximately two weeks after the Shin Bet initially determined he would be protected by a private security firm, suggesting an escalation in threat assessment.
The security upgrade follows sustained protests outside Eisenkot’s home, during which demonstrators shouted “traitor” and other inflammatory slogans directed at the opposition figure. The escalation of threats serious enough to trigger state-level security intervention represents a notable development in Israel’s internal political tensions.
