Supreme Court freezes parts of judicial overhaul law pending review

Breaking

Israel’s Supreme Court has issued an interim order freezing implementation of sections of the controversial Judicial Overhaul Law, one of the most contested pieces of legislation in the judicial reform debate.

The decision was made by Supreme Court President Isaac Amit and Justice Daphna Barak-Erez. The Deputy President dissented from the majority ruling.

The court’s intervention represents a significant legal challenge to government-backed judicial reforms that have dominated Israeli political discourse.
