The journey of the Beitar movement in full 100 years since its foundation continues to take place in Riga, the capital of Latvia, and this after exactly 100 years ago, the Beitar movement was founded by Zeev Jabotinsky in this very place. As we know, the Beitar movement is the founding movement of the entire national camp . At first it was the ideological basis for the underground and later the ideological movements that grew out of Bitar.
The person leading the journey is Yigal Brand, CEO of Beitar's global leadership. The journey began its second day and passed through landmarks in Jewish and Beitar history. At the beginning of the day, dozens of Beitars toured the old city of Riga on a tour that combined the Jewish history of the city and Latvia.
Afterwards, the participants attended the Beitar exhibition and historical findings of the Beitar movement that were found and revealed for the first time during the Beitar campaign.
The findings were hidden in a suitcase that was buried in 1940 in the forests of Latvian lands and contained dozens of Betar flags and hundreds of documents that revealed the activity and scope of the Betar movement in Latvia in general and in Europe in general. On the third day of the journey, the Beitars moved from Latvia to Lithuania and traced the Jewish community in the country. Among other things, they visited the prison where Menachem Begin was, the Gaon's grave from Vilna and toured the Jewish ghetto.
Yigal Brand, CEO of the global leadership of the Beitar movement said that: "Zev Jabotinsky, the founder of the Beitar leadership and creator of the national camp, founded in Riga the most important Zionist revolution in the last 100 years. The suitcase that was found and revealed these days contains the entire ideological basis of the global Beitar movement and from there the basis of the entire national camp.
We are proud to lead here a delegation that traces his legacy in the place where it all began. The Beitar movement that Jabotinsky founded serves, then and now, as a beacon for the entire Zionist enterprise, whatever it is."
