The first evacuation flight of Israelis stranded in Dubai landed at Ben Gurion Airport overnight, with the Defence Ministry arranging cargo planes to transport passengers’ luggage back to Israel. The UAE had initially required that each passenger flight be accompanied by a cargo aircraft to return baggage, creating logistical challenges for the stranded travellers.
According to Ynet reporting, the Defence Ministry confirmed it would dispatch dedicated cargo planes to facilitate the return of belongings for the Israeli passengers. The first cargo flight departed for Dubai in the early hours to begin the luggage retrieval operation.
This follows earlier reports from Israel Hayom that the Defence Minister had ordered cargo planes to be sent to Dubai specifically to return the suitcases of Israeli travellers, with the first flight scheduled to depart shortly after the initial rescue flight arrangements were confirmed.
