The scary reason why you have to pee before getting in the car

From a young age, our parents always told us to "pee" before going to bed, leaving the house, and even more so before a long drive. But did you know that there is another reason why you should visit the bathroom before getting into the car?

Not only filth and dirt: the danger that lurks in the hotels
"A time traveler from the year 2671" claimed: this is the date when World War III will break out

"Did you know you have to pee before you go on a car ride to give yourself the best chance of survival if you get into a car accident?" asked a doctor on Tiktok.

In a video that gained over 980 thousand views and became viral, the doctor who uses the name @medexplained000you, said that the reason for this is the bladder, which fills and swells if you hold back and do not urinate.

"If you get into a car accident when your bladder is full, there is a higher chance that it will explode and cause a tear in your abdominal wall," said the doctor, adding: "This is devastating and can lead to a quick death."

The doctor noted that if in the event of an accident your bladder is empty, there is less chance of it bursting, but even if it does, there is a higher chance of an extraperitoneal rupture, which he says is "much less serious."

Pelvic floor experts have previously warned against holding urine during a long car ride, as harmful bacteria can accumulate and lead to a urinary tract infection.

The signs of urinary tract infection:
Pain or burning sensation when urinating
Dark or strong-smelling urine
Need to urinate more frequently than usual
blood in urine
Lower abdominal pain or back pain, just below the ribs
High fever or feeling hot and shivering
Low body temperature below 36 degrees

An untreated urinary tract infection can be dangerous, according to health guru and Kegel8 founder Stephanie Taylor. According to her, prolonged retention and storage of urine in the bladder can damage the pelvic floor.

"Holding urine too often can cause the muscles in the bladder to lose the ability to contract when needed, leading to urinary retention even when you're about to burst," Taylor said, adding: "It can also cause dryness and incontinence."
