Toddler bitten by snake in central Israel home

A 2.5-year-old girl has been hospitalised after being bitten by a snake in a garden at a residential property in Beit Shemesh, a town in central Israel, on Saturday. Paramedics from Magen David Adom, Israel’s national ambulance service, provided emergency medical care at the scene before transporting the child to Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem. The girl was reported to be in moderately serious condition following the incident. Snake encounters in residential areas of Israel are not uncommon, particularly during warmer months when reptiles are more active. Beit Shemesh, located approximately 30 kilometres west of Jerusalem, is situated in an area where various snake species are native to the region. Medical staff at the hospital are monitoring the child’s condition closely, with antivenom treatment typically administered as a precautionary measure following snake bites.
