A one-year-old child is fighting for life after drowning in a swimming pool at a private residence in Herzliya on Saturday. Paramedics and first responders from Magen David Adom (Israel’s ambulance service) provided emergency medical treatment at the scene before transporting the toddler to Meir Hospital in a critical condition with severely altered consciousness.
The child was pulled from the water and received immediate care from emergency responders. Paramedics worked to stabilise the youngster’s condition during transport to the hospital, where medical teams have taken over further treatment.
The incident raises fresh concerns about swimming pool safety at residential properties. Drowning remains a leading cause of unintentional injury deaths among young children, often occurring silently and within seconds. Safety experts typically recommend constant adult supervision around water, multiple layers of protection including fencing and alarms, and CPR training for caregivers.
