Senior Peace Council officials Nikolai Mladenov and Tony Blair are conducting a series of meetings in Israel to advance the Trump administration’s plan for Gaza, according to Israel Hayom. The discussions centre on establishing a humanitarian zone in southern Gaza, Hamas’s refusal to disarm, and transferring UNRWA responsibilities to other organisations.
The envoys are also scheduled to meet with Bezalel Smotrich, chairman of the National Union party, described as a courtesy meeting given the possibility he could become Prime Minister in future. The Trump plan represents a significant diplomatic initiative aimed at resolving the Gaza crisis, though Hamas’s position on disarmament remains a key obstacle.
These high-level talks reflect ongoing international efforts to shape post-conflict arrangements in Gaza and demonstrate continued American diplomatic engagement in Israeli-Palestinian affairs.
