Two Abu Dhabi oil tankers attacked in Strait of Hormuz

Two vessels belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) have been attacked whilst transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, according to the United Arab Emirates’ official news agency. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, marking the latest security incident in one of the world’s most critical shipping routes. ADNOC stated that there were no casualties in the attack and that the situation was brought under control.
The Strait of Hormuz, which separates Iran from Oman, is one of the most important chokepoints for global oil and gas trade, with roughly one-third of the world’s maritime oil passing through its waters daily. Attacks on commercial shipping in the region have increased tensions in recent years, with various incidents attributed to Iranian-backed forces and other regional actors.
