Two women have been named as suspects in the killing of 19-year-old Binyamin Razi, whose body was discovered in a Jerusalem Airbnb apartment. Shilat Chuta, 19, and Linor Sasson, 50, are accused of involvement in the murder. One of the suspects successfully petitioned the court to restrict the publication of her name, though Israeli media has reported the identities of both women involved in the case.
Sasson has a previous criminal record, having been convicted alongside her son of extortion charges. The circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death have shocked the local community, with investigators working to establish the full sequence of events leading to his death.
Razi’s mother has spoken to Israeli media outlets about the background to the case, describing how her son’s ex-partner had become increasingly problematic in the family’s life. “She drove us mad,” she told reporters, alleging the woman had displayed obsessive behaviour towards her son. According to the family, Razi had taken out restraining orders against the woman, blocked her and her friends from contacting him, and even changed his phone number in an attempt to distance himself from her.
The case has drawn attention to issues of harassment and restraining order enforcement in Israel, with the family’s account suggesting a pattern of concerning behaviour that preceded the fatal incident. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the teenager’s death.
