US launches strikes on Iran as tensions escalate in Middle East

Breaking

The United States has conducted military strikes against Iran, marking the first such action since the US election. According to Trump, the strikes targeted “a little bit of an anti-aircraft device” and were described as “minor” in scope.

The strikes come amid heightened regional tensions. The US State Department has issued a travel warning for American citizens in the Middle East, cautioning against potential attacks by Iranian-backed Houthi forces and threats against American government officials in the region. Warnings also include concerns about potential aviation disruptions, flight cancellations and airspace closures.

CENTCOM has simultaneously announced a $20 million reward for information on Iran’s nuclear programme. However, reports from Qatar and the Trump administration suggest ongoing diplomatic negotiations with Tehran may continue, with the US President stating “we’ve made a lot of progress with Iran, it’s no longer a war.”

The incident represents a significant escalation in US-Iran relations and underscores the volatile security situation in the Middle East, with diplomatic channels reportedly remaining open despite military action.
