The United States Central Command announced late Thursday that it had completed a comprehensive wave of strikes against military targets in Iran. According to the military statement, the operations utilised precision-guided munitions and were directed against command centres, air defence sites, missile capabilities, unmanned aerial systems, and coastal surveillance facilities, including installations in the region around Bandar Abbas. US Central Command emphasised that the purpose of the operation was to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes. The strikes represent a significant escalation in direct military action between Washington and Tehran, and come amid heightened regional tensions linked to the broader conflict in the Middle East.
