Young woman hospitalised after scorpion sting in Negev desert

A 25-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after being stung by a yellow scorpion in the Negev region of southern Israel. The incident occurred on Saturday when the woman was struck by the scorpion near Mitzpe Ramon, a popular tourist destination situated in the heart of the Negev desert. Paramedics from Magen David Adom (Israel’s national emergency service) provided initial treatment at the scene before transferring her to Soroka Medical Centre in Beersheba. The woman was admitted in moderate condition and is receiving ongoing medical care. Yellow scorpions are commonly found in Israel’s desert regions and their stings, whilst painful, are rarely fatal to humans, though medical attention is typically advised for stings causing significant symptoms.
