A 10-year-old boy has died following injuries sustained in an electric scooter accident in the Sharon region of central Israel. Omer Shadi Azzam, from the Arab town of Tayibe, was visiting relatives in the village of Maissar when he was struck by the scooter. He was rushed to Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident has reignited concerns about the safety risks posed by electric scooters, particularly among younger users. The devices, which have become increasingly popular across Israel as a convenient form of short-distance transport, can reach significant speeds and have been linked to numerous injuries in recent years.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation. Authorities will be examining how the incident occurred and whether any safety measures were being observed at the time.
