Man’s life saved after collapse during sports activity in Kfar Saba

A 67-year-old man collapsed whilst taking part in sporting activity in Kfar Saba on Sunday. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics performed emergency resuscitation procedures and used a defibrillator to deliver an electric shock to restore his heartbeat. He was then transferred to Meir Hospital by MDA intensive care ambulance in stable condition, sedated and on a ventilator.

Paramedic Naomi Mashy and senior first-aiders Snir Chala and Lidor Wadai, from MDA’s motorcycle unit, described the scene upon arrival: “When we reached the scene, we found the patient unconscious with no pulse and not breathing.” The rapid response of the emergency team proved crucial in saving the man’s life, with the defibrillator successfully restoring cardiac function at the scene.

The swift intervention demonstrates the importance of rapid emergency response and access to defibrillators in public spaces. The patient’s stable condition upon arrival at hospital, despite the severity of his initial collapse, reflects the effectiveness of the immediate life-saving measures taken by the paramedics.
