Israel has released five prisoners to Lebanon as part of diplomatic negotiations, marking a significant political gesture amid ongoing talks. The release was approved following a meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and US ambassadors to Israel and Lebanon.

Among those released is Kamel Ghazi, who disappeared in the Hermon area in October and has already crossed the border into Lebanon, according to Arab reports. The prisoner exchange represents continued efforts to improve regional relations despite ongoing tensions.

Despite the diplomatic move, the Israel Defence Forces have emphasised that the current pilot operation in southern Lebanon remains insufficient for achieving stated security objectives.
