Israeli security forces have neutralised a knife-wielding attacker at the Damascus Gate (Sha’ar Shechem) in Jerusalem’s Old City on Friday morning. The assailant, a 33-year-old resident of East Jerusalem, attempted to attack Border Police officers with a knife.

Border Police responded swiftly to the attack, neutralising the assailant at the scene. He was pronounced dead immediately after the incident.

The Jerusalem District Commander arrived at the location and conducted a special situational assessment following the foiled attack.
