A man who was swept away in the sea was rescued this weekend by the maritime police officers, and they managed to prevent him from crashing into the breakwater on the beach in the south of the country.
The marine police officers in Lakish were jumped following a report of a man who was riding a jet ski on the beach, and was swept away with his vehicle after an engine malfunction occurred. The rider was unable to resist the strong currents that swept him towards the breakwater, and he was rescued a few tens of meters away from it. After videoing him not needing medical attention, his jet ski was towed back to the marina.
Against the background of the incident and the opening of the summer season, Rector Ilan Kahana, the commander of the maritime police in Lakish, asked to remind that one should stay away from the breakwaters as much as possible, and added: "It is necessary to be careful to be equipped with a means of communication with the help of which in case of an emergency, we can be called with a short call to the 100 hotline."
