After the American sanctions: this is how the political echelon is expected to act against the decision

Following Barak Ravid's publication of the Biden administration's intention to impose sanctions on the Netzah Yehuda unit , senior political leaders in Israel are conducting inspections and discussions with the American government in order to find out the situation, the seriousness and urgency of the decision regarding the imposition of sanctions and, if so, the ways to change the expected decision.

Among other things, Defense Minister Yoav Galant is holding talks with the officials in Washington to influence the decision-making procedures regarding sanctions. Those around him emphasize that what is important now is to act without noise and statements in the media.

On the other hand, the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gabir, is determined not only to express himself, but also and above all – to promote Israeli actions as a response to the possible sanctions.

In the meantime, the minister addressed a letter today (Sunday) to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked him to convene the political-security cabinet this evening, in order to make a decision on immediate sanctions against the Palestinian Authority.

Minister Ben Gabir is expected to ask the Prime Minister to bring to a vote in the cabinet a resolution on the confiscation of PA funds transferred to it through Israel, and to instruct the Ministry of Finance to formulate a series of severe sanctions against the Palestinian banks.
