Contrary to all advice: the couple who decided to leave the comfort zone and be part of the world of nursing

Anat Stotland, until recently working for a large construction company in the field of client case management, decided at the age of 35 and against all advisors of all kinds to convert to the nursing profession. Anat is currently 43 years old and is a nurse in charge of the 2nd boarding school at Assuta Ashdod Public Hospital.

"In the middle of the fourth decade of my life, while I was in a senior position, in a good and rewarding job, I felt that it was not enough," says Anat. "The salary, the conditions, the status, everything was good. It seemed like a dream come true. But I felt that I wanted and was able to give more. Nevertheless, I still didn't have the courage to get up and take action. The reality changed when I gave birth to my third daughter and during the maternity leave I realized that it was either Now or never, the time has come to fulfill the dream that I am not entirely sure what it is."

"After thinking to myself, I realized that the nursing profession, along with the difficult challenges but with the many satisfactions, is where I want to be and develop. Indeed, I announced at my job that I did not intend to return and immediately enrolled in nursing studies. I do not regret for a moment the step I took, the only thing about it I regret that I didn't listen to my mother's advice to choose this profession about 20 years ago, but I am full of hope and prayer that I was able to lift her spirits when I told her on the ward bed before her death, because it's a shame I didn't listen to her then – but soon I will be a full-fledged nurse. I I know this made her very proud."

Finished but not finished, Anat's husband, Dima, now 47 years old and until recently a senior defense high tech employee, saw closely the change that took place in his wife's life, decided contrary to what was customary and certainly for his age and status, to leave the familiar and safe world and decided to study nursing and is expected to graduate his studies in about a year.

According to him, "Career, money and respect are a lot. But they are all dwarfed in the blink of an eye, in front of that smile of a patient who helped him improve his life. We are in this world until the age of 120, and during this period I want to realize the right and honor to do my best for others and there is nothing like The nursing profession to bring this to light."
