A man and woman have been filmed clinging to an antenna atop the Empire State Building in New York, situated 443 metres above street level, in a dramatic marriage proposal. During their time at the summit of the iconic skyscraper, the couple unfurled a banner bearing the message: “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” The stunt, captured on film, showed the couple perched precariously at one of the most recognisable vantage points in the world, with the vast expanse of New York City visible far below them. After displaying the peace banner, the man dropped to one knee and proposed marriage, transforming the high-altitude protest into an engagement announcement. The daring display combines activism with romance, using one of America’s most famous landmarks as the backdrop for both a message about global peace and a personal commitment between the two individuals.
