A five-year-old girl has died after being hit by a vehicle on Shmuel Salant Street in Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon. Paramedics from Magen David Adom provided emergency medical treatment at the scene and transported her to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in critical condition whilst performing ongoing resuscitation efforts.
Medical staff at the hospital were unable to save the child, and she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The incident marks a tragic loss and will add to growing concerns about road safety in the Israeli capital.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation. Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency response service, had responded rapidly to the emergency call, but the severity of the child’s injuries proved fatal despite all efforts to save her life.
