French prosecutor seeks jail time for MP over terrorism apology

Rima Hassan, a French MP critical of Israel, faces charges of ‘justifying terrorism’ after quoting Japanese terrorist Kozo Okamoto who carried out a 1972 attack at Lod airport. French prosecutors are seeking ten months conditional imprisonment and a two-year ban from public office. The case follows controversy when Hassan was filmed taking down an Israeli flag at an exhibition commemorating the October 7 massacre.
