The Houthi movement has carried out an unprecedented attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport terminal, killing at least 12 people and wounding around 50, according to Ynet reporting. This represents the second major attack on the Saudi airport in two days, following an incident on the previous day that killed three people and damaged an aircraft.
The militants fired missiles that struck the passenger terminal directly, causing significant casualties. Eyewitnesses reported explosions followed by scenes of wounded people lying in the terminal. The attack marks an escalation in Houthi operations against Saudi infrastructure.
US President Donald Trump has indicated the United States may join Saudi Arabia in military strikes against the Yemen-based Houthis. According to the Jerusalem Post, Trump stated: “We’ll make a decision very quickly,” leaving open the possibility of direct American military involvement alongside Saudi forces. Trump emphasized that a decision would be made imminently, though he noted he had not yet decided on involvement.
The Houthis have intensified their campaign of attacks against Saudi targets in recent weeks, and this terminal strike represents one of the most significant casualties from their operations to date.
